As a Catholic school, our faith is central to all that we do. We believe our most significant contribution to the education of our students is sharing the Good News: that Jesus came into the world to rescue us and show us how to live as his disciples. Consistent with Diocesan recommendations, our beautiful Catholic faith is taught as a formal class on a daily basis. In addition, teachers incorporate the teachings of our Catholic Church and Christianity into the school’s curriculum throughout the day, giving the students lots of opportunities to encounter Christ.
Every day begins and ends with all-school prayer. On Wednesdays and Holy Days, our school family gathers together for Mass, which is the Source and Summit of our faith. Advent brings special Advent prayer services, and during Lent, we gather to pray the Stations of the Cross together. All-school Rosaries are prayed in October and May. During the year, the students also have opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Students in pre-K and kindergarten participate in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS), which helps students to foster their relationships with God. First and second grade students have an opportunity to attend CGS after school hours. In second grade, students are prepared for and receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist during the second trimester. Research has shown that the most successful Catholic Schools are those in which students demonstrate Christ’s love toward classmates, not only in their own classrooms, but throughout the school and parish community. Students at St. Anne begin developing a habit of caring and helping others that will carry into their adult years. Younger students are paired with older Spirit Buddies for activities and Masses, and all students in grades two and up have a Prayer Partner with whom they regularly communicate through letter writing and special events. In addition, the school community regularly seeks opportunities to serve others in our greater community.
Our Catholic faith shines in all that we do and provides the heartbeat for our school!
